Garcia De Verdevique – Skin Contact
Mil Pieles | Orange Wine | Natural
What is orange wine? Orange wine is white wine left to ferment with the skins still in the mix. The same way red wine gets its colour. This adds a layer of complexity, changes the acidity, colour and can add tannins. Oh and the skin is where wine gets its nutritive health benefits, so there’s another plus. This is a beautiful example from the mountains of Granada: Mil Pieles – A Thousand Skins. One month skin contact with low to no sulfur added. A massive blend of beautiful bursting mountain grapes: Vigiriega, Perruna, Sauvignon Blanc, Torrontes, Viognier. Oh yeah.
Garcia De Verdevique – Granada – Spain
Situated in the Alpujarra mountain range between 1100 & 1400m, this is one of the highest vineyards in Europe. The altitude, coupled with the harsh environment and a unique micro – climate give Verdevique’s wines truly distinctive characteristics. Winemakers for generations, they remain dedicated to the ancient traditions of the area. Championing indigenous grapes & utilising the help of donkeys on the steep slopes; they are old school. Antonio and his family produce organic wine as it has been crafted for centuries; with no filtration, stabilisation or chemicals, resulting in natural wines packed with flavour and character.

I ordered the prosecco and the olive oil. The Olive oil is delicious and fresh there are some lovely earthy flavours. I can taste the love it was made with! The prosecco was smooth and subtle perfect for a warm afternoon. It complimented my roasted veggies in the garden! It is wonderful to know these products were sourced from small farms and are made by passionate people.
Thank you so much!!
Very impressive first couple of orders – the still Prosecco was exquisite & the oil and balsamic vinegar bring that feeling of Mediterranean sunshine to our Yorkshire table.
